Lover of dark coffee, gaming and customization

Good Morning!  It has been a long time since posting. Just finished up a six-year stint in college, so I was extremely busy.

I'm using Windows 10 builds from the Windows Insider Program and we recently just received build 19393 on the slow ring July 20th. Since that build, I am unable to change a skin in Windowblinds 10 without causing a crash. The crash is significant as it makes the CRTL-ALT-DELETE option unuseable, and therefore I'm forced to do a hard reboot and reboot a 2nd time into safe-mode in order to turn off the Windowblinds service.

I verified that this crash happened twice, both when attempting to change the same skin. I'm a bit hesitant to go a third round with a different skin. I will also note that I had used the Windowblind's modification 'menu' in order to use some self-added color templates to change the skin's color before attempting to use the skin. In the event that it matters, the skin was 8 for 7.

I will also note that until this build and these recent crashes, I had been successful at using any skin, even those made for Win XP and Vista, save for some that had some visual glitches that were unsatisfactory.

I'll keep my eye out here for updates and I apologize if this issue has already been brought up previously!

When you play with Betas of an OS you must expect program failures.  The 'bugs' are with the OS, not the program/s.  The latter is designed to function properly with Public [stable] Releases of the OS.

I got off the Slow Ring so I haven't seen that Beta but I'm assuming it will be rolled into the Big Deal on August 2nd. I'm also assuming That Update won't crash Windowblinds. I just got WindowBlinds 10 (014 - Windows 10 Edition) - 64 bit OS, maybe its compatible with build 19393.

Thanks JoDa, one of my thoughts was to check for an update of the Windowblinds software itself as well. Jafo, I completely agree and only posted about the issue as a heads up in order to help ensure that Stardock could be aware of it.

As a side note: I've been on either the fast or slow ring since early on and I've amazingly had no huge issues. I even used the beta builds while using my PC for development while in my computer science program at school. While Windows has gone one way with allowing user control and customization, I've found it to be much more stable.

P.P.S. Two things I really enjoy about the last two builds are the ability to quickly switch from a light (default) to a dark theme. This theme entails most of the UI, and secondly, Bash on Ubuntu. They are both nice additions.

Quick Update: I cross-checked an updated Windowblinds 10 in my account downloads section and the forums for the Stardock store, and sure enough, this issue was known and an update has been released to address it. I'm on my way to give it a shot! I should have known they'd be on top of it!  -Cheers!

The "Windows Anniversary" (1607) update they rolled out crashes hard just like he reported.  Mine was updated last night and went straight to a black screen after boot.  Had to go into safe mode and disable Windowblinds.

I switched back to the default Windows 10 skin as a precaution before installing the Anniversary update (AU) and didn't have any problems.  WindowBlinds continues to work in the AU, however I have an issue where right click menus are unreadable when skins which state Windows 10 support are applied; the contrast between the font and the background is too low.

Maybe something was missed.

You can change the color of the right click menu using skinstudio in the "change skin colors/Menu. The Menu color changes it.

To change the Text color. Edit Controls/Edit Menus and menubars/ Popup menus/Menu item/Text (text setting is at the bottom of window. Make sure you click apply after any changes.
